Marketing Tip

Avoiding The Bucket With Your PPC

Avoid The Bucket: A successful Pay-Per-Click ad has to find a way to stand out from the crowd. Creating a converting ad for your Pay-Per-Click campaigns can be the most challenging and most rewarding aspect of your PPC campaign. The right ad can make you a lot of money, and the wrong ad can get you very little traffic. Many times advertisers will have copy in their ad that is similar to the ads above and below their position. This can be quite problematic… you are in “the bucket” with the ads above and below you.

Your ad now gets clumped together with the ads above and below you. Your ad blends in with the crowd of ads around you so the ad above you has a greater chance of getting clicked than your ad. Split testing is a crucial best practice to any PPC campaign to help keep your ads out of the “bucket” because you can find the subtleties that make your ad different and stand out. In upcoming issues we will discuss the power of split testing or A/B testing and how it can make you a fortune with your PPC. To see how SitePropeller can help you with this check out our SingleProp plan.

Search Engine Tip

To use WWW or not… that is the question.

www

Does it improve your ranking with the search engines to have the WWW? There is some debate regarding this both strong feelings either way. The biggest argument against using WWW is that in the future many companies will drop the WWW when they use their hyperlink in articles and press releases. The biggest argument for WWW is that currently people search using the WWW as the front of the URL.

no www

There is a way to make it easier for the searcher to find you by allowing your htaccess file to rewrite the URL to be www.mywebsite.com all the time. This makes it easy to type into the URL bar in your browser; people can leave off the www and still get to your site. Editing your htaccess file is not for everybody. First of all, it is invisible to most users and takes some editing to make visible. After you know where the file is you have to know some HTML to make the edits. Your best bet is to have your Webmaster help take care of this for you. Even though it is a small edit it will make a difference in your search engine optimization efforts and branding. If you find that you need more help with this please give SitePropeller a call and we will make sure that your htaccess file is doing what you need it to do.

Landing Page Tip

Are you paralyzed?

Stuck

The old paradox is alive and well with landing pages and pay per click. Some experts say to start with the landing page and then find the traffic. Others say, find the traffic and then create the page. At SitePropeller, we’ve handled hundreds of such situations. And our advice:  Don’t worry about whether to start with landing page design or a pay-per-click campaign. Just start.

If you spend all your time building landing pages or perhaps trying to build every landing page, you’ll end up having to rebuild them all. Because in the first 7 days, your pay-per-click campaign or the firm that handles your campaign management will demonstrate to you that the keywords you thought were the best actually didn’t work at all. If you start with pay per click and drive every click to the same page, you’ll quickly find that many keywords are too expensive or don’t have the volume to support your needs.

So, where do you start first?  Get a couple of pages up and get a campaign going. OR get a campaign going and get a couple of pages up. It doesn’t matter. Really. The first several days are all learning curve. At SitePropeller, we’ve tested keywords without any pages to send them to and avoided the expense of creating pages where the marketplace was already crowded.

Either way works as long as you have a plan to study what the marketplace is doing and react to it. Within the first 7 days, your pay per click campaign or your adwords management agency will be quickly suggesting landing page changes, deletions and additions. And, they’ll be suggesting keyword changes. Keywords have a funny way of revealing consumer behavior. So just start.

Avoid the paralyzing feeling of not knowing where to start. Just start. And let the market tell you what to do next. It’s cheaper, it’s easier, and certainly, more profitable.

The SitePropeller Truth to Remember is this: It doesn’t matter whether you start with a landing page or a pay per click campaign. Just start and let the market determine what your next step is. Check out some of the ways we have helped some of our other clients with their landing pages.

Product Special - SEO

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO as it is commonly referred, has become more and more popular over the last (90) days, and this has created a frenzy of demand for this service. A year ago SEO was considered magical and a service sprinkled with "pixy dust", but today there is more science behind the service and companies want to capitalize on this great opportunity. Finding a reliable and knowledgeable company that can execute the science of SEO can really pay off big. Having your website appear on the first page of a Google search will improve your web traffic exponentially. Studies show that the difference from being on page one of a search and page two of a search can be significant.

Now companies are deciding how much to apply towards their SEO efforts, and whether or not it is worth using an agency to do the SEO work. A study done by the renowned organization Marketing Sherpa discovered the following results:

Agency SEO

One of the biggest advantages an agency has over the in-house team is that an agency has developed and implemented the right systems to be more efficient and effective. Agencies use a plethora of knowledge they have acquired from their many clients and many different verticals to submit information that gives the company the greatest exposure for certain keywords.

At SitePropeller our clients are seeing their web traffic increase tremendously. Our clients receive on average over 35% more traffic in less than 45 days!

Case Study

VNET Pros, a computer integration company in the San Diego area needed a website and some local marketing to help drive more traffic and convert more leads for their business. The site was not converting any traffic that it received, and that traffic was only one or two visits a day. VNET Pros came to SitePropeller to help them increase web traffic and get more conversions. We finished the site in a blazing two weeks. There is still some content that is being added by VNET Pros, and because we used a great CMS system in Expression Engine they can edit, change, and update their website whenever they want. As a bonus, Expression Engine provides excellent SEO possibilies as we continue to increase their visibility.

You can visit their site and see what we did in the same time that most agencies are still trying to get the project managed.  It is still early to get reportable results, but they have already started seeing the web traffic increase. This all happened for less than $1500!
